Federal Authorities began taking bottles, rocks and industrial size fireworks and they have deployed tear gas into the crowd. 

The area remains closed to traffic.

The entertainment world is mourning the loss of 70's TV star Demond Wilson, who was most known for his role as Lamont Sanford opposite Redd Foxx in the hit series, "Sanford and Son."

His publicist confirmed his passing on Saturday.

The chemistry on that show was perfection. Demond set up Redd so flawlessly with every joke, you couldn’t see it coming. An American hero, an American icon, and a wonderful man.

RIP, Demond Wilson.

UPDATE: The Incident Commander has declared an Unlawful Assembly. A Dispersal Order has been issued to all persons on Alameda between Temple and Aliso/Commercial.

You must leave the area or be subject to arrest per 409 PC.  Leave Southbound Alameda from Temple or Eastbound on Commercial from Alameda.

As Officers issued Dispersal Order, agitators in the crowd began throwing bottles and industrial size/commercial grade fireworks at the line of officers. 

An Unlawful Assembly remains in effect on Alameda between Temple and Aliso/Commercial.

Please, pray for the Peoria County Sheriff’s deputy who was shot in the line of duty tonight.🙏🏻

BREAKING: Peoria County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was shot multiple times during a traffic stop around 9:52 p.m. in the 1000 block of S. Western Ave in Peoria, Illinois.

The suspect fled on foot. The deputy was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Peoria Police are assisting.

Our prayers for a full recovery are with the deputy with the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputy who suffered from multiple gunshot wounds while conducting a routine traffic stop in Peoria last night. 🙏🏻

Update on last night's incident:

Our deputy underwent surgery for multiple gunshot wounds. The procedure lasted most of the night and was successful. He faces a long recovery, but we are grateful that he is in stable condition. He has been a dedicated member of the Peoria County Sheriff's Office for the past three years.

Because the incident occurred in Peoria and the suspect fled the scene, the Peoria Police Department immediately offered its full support and resources and is handling the investigation. They will be releasing additional information. I truly want to thank all the first responders who were involved and the medical staff at the hospital.
