On Friday, January 23rd, Deputy Sheriff Hodges caught an escapee. A very cute escapee.

According to Diane, who witnessed the chaotic scene, Deputy Hodges was "dog-gone wonderful."

Diane said that Gracie the Dog is an escape artist, and she managed to slip out of her collar just as Gracie and her human friend were entering Thompson's Veterinary Center on State Road 60, just east of Lake Wales.

People were scrambling, trying to catch Gracie as she ran through the parking lot.

Deputy Hodges was passing by, saw the commotion, and immediately "pulled into assist in the apprehension of the pup-petrator," as Diane put it.

Diane added that Deputy Hodges entered the office and turned Gracie over to her human after "paws-ing for a picture."

Diane has a wonderful way with words.

Kudos to Deputy Hodges for this Outstanding Outcome.

WATCH LIVE: President Donald J. Trump Makes an Announcement, Jan. 29, 2026

POTUS: "Today, I'm signing a historic executive order to combat the scourge of addiction and substance abuse... we're calling it the Great American Recovery Initiative.

"Every year, we lose an estimated 300,000 people to drug and alcohol abuse... thankfully, drug overdose deaths plummeted by 21% in the last year... We've closed the southern border, seized over 47M fentanyl pills... drugs entering our country by sea are down 97%."

"The Great American Recovery Initiative will bring together federal, state, local and private sector resources to support addiction recovery, treatment, and prevention."

SecKennedy: "For too long, our nation has responded with fragmentation, with stigmatization, and silence instead of science, compassion and coordination. Today, POTUS changes that. With the Great American Recovery Initiative, we finally bring the full strength of the federal government together across healthcare, law enforcement, housing, labor, faith communities, and the private sector, to save lives, restore families, and rebuild communities that addiction has hollowed out."

Kathryn Burgum shares the story of her battle with addiction, and explains what POTUS' new executive order means for those struggling: "With this framework and treatment, recovery is not the exception, it is the expectation."❀️

SEPeaceMissions, at the launch of the Great American Recovery Initiative, movingly speaks about how President Trump was there for him when his son, Andrew, died of an opioid overdose: "He is a very special man. He has begun and led the fight against opioid addiction and alcohol addiction."

NIHDirector_Jay on the White House Great American Recovery Initiative: "The kinds of investments [in drug treatment and recovery] that your Administration has made, starting from the first Trump term to now, will continue to pay dividends."

America is setting Records in every way, and our Growth Numbers are among the best ever. The only thing that can slow our Country down is another long and damaging Government Shutdown. I am working hard with Congress to ensure that we are able to fully fund the Government, without delay. Republicans and Democrats in Congress have come together to get the vast majority of the Government funded until September, while at the same time providing an extension to the Department of Homeland Security (including the very important Coast Guard, which we are expanding and rebuilding like never before). Hopefully, both Republicans and Democrats will give a very much needed Bipartisan β€œYES” Vote. PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP
