Ice flying off cars injured at least three people in Maryland, including an Anne Arundel County sheriff's deputy, prompting leaders to remind drivers to clear snow and ice from their vehicles to prevent further accidents.

A large chunk of ice flew off another vehicle and hit a deputy's car on Interstate 97 Wednesday morning, leaving the patrol car with a busted windshield and ice inside.

Paramedics took the deputy to University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center with facial and hand lacerations. He has since been released.

"Luckily, he didn't have any major injuries from the pictures that we saw from the incident."

Two people in Havre de Grace were hurt on Tuesday after a large piece of ice crashed through their windshield on northbound Interstate 95 on the Tydings Bridge. Paramedics took the injured persons to Christiana Trauma in Delaware.

Please, pray for all involvedπŸ™πŸ»

We Honor and Remember Chief Deputy Sheriff Frank DeWar, End of Watch (EOW) January 29, 1932, Aircraft Accident

On January 29, 1932, Chief Deputy DeWar was en route back to Los Angeles in a commuter aircraft after conducting a follow-up on a kidnapping case in the Bakersfield area. The Century-Pacific Ford Tri-Motor was traveling south along the Grapevine in inclement weather and the pilot, in the days of pre-radar aviation, was using visual flight rules.

As the weather began to close in, the pilot attempted to turn the plane around. Unfortunately, now in near-zero visibility, the plane struck a ridge above Johnson Canyon on the Tejon Ranch near Lebec in Kern County. The plane impacted the ridge mere feet from clearing it. Chief Deputy DeWar and seven other occupants died in the crash.

Despite an intense search, the wreckage of the plane in a snow-filled canyon was not located until February 4 by a Native-American tracker named Paul Appodaca and his three dogs. Evidence at the scene indicated that an intense fire broke out when the plane hit the canyon wall and the passengers’ bodies suffered massive burns.

Chief Deputy DeWar joined the Sheriff’s Department in 1914. The following year he took a leave of absence and enlisted in the Seventh Canadian Overseas Battalion to fight in World War I, and rose to the rank of sergeant. He was injured by poison gas in 1916 and then wounded by shrapnel at Vimy Ridge in 1917. After his last wounds, he was honorably discharged by the Canadian Army. When he returned to North America he helped the Canadian recruiting drive. His numerous requests to return to combat were denied by the Canadian Army, but in October 1918 he passed his physical to join the American Army. The war ended a month later and he did not return to Europe.

After the war, DeWar rejoined the Sheriff’s Department and served with distinction. In 1926, following numerous escapes at the recently opened Hall of Justice Jail, DeWar became Chief Jailer and immediately restored order to the new custody facility.

In April 1930, when Eugene Biscailuz left the Sheriff’s Department to become the first commissioner of the newly created California Highway Patrol, DeWar was named to replace Biscailuz as Undersheriff. Upon Biscialuz’s return to the Sheriff’s Department at the end of 1931, DeWar stepped aside as Biscailuz again took the Undersheriff position. DeWar was named Chief Deputy and placed in command of an anti-gang unit.

The Patriotic Hall was filled to capacity at DeWar’s funeral and hundreds stood outside. Dignitaries from all over the state, including California Governor Rolph, attended. The funeral was conducted by the American Legion and afterward, the procession to the gravesite extended for over a mile and included the World War Veterans’ Pipe Band, Police, and American Legion Corps as well as a member of Post Number 13 of the Canadian Legion.

WATCH IN FULL: Tom Homan holds news conference in Minneapolis

Border czar Tom Homan says President Trump called him directly and asked him to go to Minneapolis to address the anti-ICE unrest in the city. Homan says "a lot of progress" has already been made since he arrived.

"Got here on Monday evening, and I'm staying until the problem is gone."

"We are not surrendering the president's mission in immigration enforcement. Let's make that clear."

"I begged for the last two months on TV for the rhetoric to stop."

"I said in March if the rhetoric didn't stop, there was going to be bloodshed, and there has been."

"I wish I wasn't right. I don't want to see anybody die. Not officers, not members of the community and not the targets of our operations."

"I didn't come to Minnesota for photo-ops or headlines. You haven't seen me. I came here to seek solutions, and that's what we're going to do."

"I do not want to hear that everything that's been done here has been perfect. Nothing's ever perfect. Anything can be improved on."

"The mission is going to improve because of the changes we're making internally."

"President Trump and I, along with others in the administration, have recognized that certain improvements could and should be made. That's exactly what I'm doing here."

"I didn't come to Minnesota for photo-ops or headlines. You haven't seen me. I came here to seek solutions, and that's what we're going to do."

Border czar Tom Homan shares details of his meeting with Governor Walz and Mayor Frey after arriving in Minnesota to oversee federal immigration operations in the state.

"We didn't agree on everything. I didn't expect to agree on anything."

Tom Homan delivers a clear mandate on immigration:

"President Trump wants this fixed, and I'm going to fix it."

"A secure border saves lives."

"I don't want to see anybody die. Even the people we're looking for."

"Despite what people think of Tom Homan, I say a prayer every night that everybody goes home safe."

Border czar Tom Homan calls out Democrats for criticizing the Trump administration's crackdown on illegal immigration.

"Where were they the last four years? When women and children sex trafficking was at an all-time high."
"Where were they when a quarter million Americans died from fentanyl coming across the border?"

With ICE Facing Historic Violence, Dems Fan Flames By Labeling Immigration Agents Nazis

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner spoke outside City Hall on a chilly Tuesday morning, flanked by activists holding signs that read in bold: β€œICE OUT OF PHILADELPHIA.”

β€œThis is a small bunch of wannabe Nazis. In a country of 350 million, we outnumber them,” said the George Soros-backed district attorney, holding his glasses in one gloved hand and gripping the podium with the other. β€œIf we have to hunt you down the way they hunted down Nazis for decades, we will find your identities, we will find you, we will achieve justice.”
