A New York State Police trooper was injured late Thursday night while assisting a disabled motorist on the Thruway in West Seneca.

State police said the trooper was standing outside his vehicle around 10 p.m. on Jan. 22 on the westbound I-90 Exit 54 ramp when a pickup truck left the roadway and struck him.

Investigators said James J. Stumpf, 34, of Buffalo, was driving a 2020 Ford pickup on the ramp from State Route 400 when the vehicle went off the left shoulder and into a snow embankment, where the trooper was standing.
The trooper was taken to ECMC for treatment and was later released. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for a full recovery🙏🏻
