JUST IN: Deadly crash ends police pursuit through Orange County, California.

A pursuit started by the Anaheim Police Department ended after a multi-vehicle collision killed one person in the nearby city of Placentia.

Last Friday, around 12pm, we received a 911 call from a frantic mother. She said while she, and the father of their child, were on a walk with their daughter, they started discussing ending their relationship.

The father of their child became enraged, threatened to kill their daughter (who he was holding), then kill himself. He then ran to their apartment, still carrying their daughter, and barricaded himself.

Officers arrived in no time, which included members of our UPD Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), and quickly established communication to de-escalate the situation. After the father refused to comply and exit the residence, a SWAT call-out was initiated.

Once the suspect realized he had armored vehicles outside, drones overhead, detectives on scene with a warrant in hand… CNT was still on the phone offering a peaceful solution and a way out. He came to his senses and surrendered.

Good Samaritans worked together to rescue a driver trapped inside a sinking SUV in Virginia.

A man was able to bust through the rear windshield and pull the driver out to safety as the vehicle fully submerged in the frigid water.

Virginia Beach Police said that the driver and two good Samaritans were taken to the hospital for non-serious injuries.

WATCH: A fatal shootout between San Jose police and a carjacking suspect was caught on camera.

The San Jose police sergeant who was shot Wednesday following a multi-county pursuit is in "good spirits" but remains in the hospital for evaluation and treatment of his injury.

Mayor Matt Mahan visited the San Jose police sergeant in the hospital and, in a statement, praised the officer for protecting the community.

The suspect, who carjacked a Corvette and a second vehicle, was killed after being struck by a police vehicle. Authorities said more information will be shared Thursday.
