NEW: I’m told multiple ICE agents with rooms booked at the St. Paul Downtown Doubletree by Hilton received this notice today that their rooms are being cancelled & the hotel will temporarily close “due to heightened public safety concerns in St. Paul.”

I called the hotel & checked online & they are indeed not taking any bookings right now. They referred me to other hotels.

I'm told this also happened today at the Intercontinental St. Paul, with ICE agents with bookings there notified the hotel will be temporarily closing today due to the ongoing unrest in Minnesota. An agent who talked to the front desk manager there says he was told it was done to protect staff because they have been getting threats from unknown individuals for lodging DHS agents.

The Chicago City Council is poised to award another $875K to settle claims tied to police handling of the summer-long George Floyd protests in 2020. This proposal follows settling with one protester who lost a tooth for $280K.

But what of the 18 police officers injured during the July protests in Grant Park?

Protesters laid siege to CPD without riot gear at the Columbus statue by throwing frozen water bottles and fireworks. CPS were also attacked with homespun spears. In the aftermath, riots and looting injured 130 police officers and caused $66 million in damage to over 2,100 businesses.

Did Chicago sue rioters who injured officers? Of course not.

Leave it to WBEZ to again demonstrate their anti-police bias by editorializing that alleged police misconduct is “strikingly similar” to allegations against ICE in Operation Midway Blitz. What utter nonsense!

Clarification on my relationship with ICE apparently is needed after an interview on KTAR radio last Wednesday.
During that interview, I was asked a very straightforward question about if ICE broke the law what would I do about it. I gave a very short & straightforward answer that apparently I should have expanded further on for some people.

Law enforcement officers are often recognized with official commendations throughout the year, symbolized by the ribbons worn on their uniforms. Those honors matter.

But messages like this matter just as much.

A handwritten note of gratitude is a reminder of why officers serve and who they serve. Recognition does not always come in the form of a ribbon. Sometimes it comes directly from the community, and that carries lasting weight.

Support does not have to be loud to be meaningful. Moments like this are proof that service is seen, valued, and remembered.
