Law enforcement uses โ€˜reasonable suspicionโ€™ to make arrests, as protected under the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The Supreme Court has already vindicated us on this position.

A personโ€™s immigration status makes them a target for enforcement, not their skin color, race or ethnicity.

A tip of the hat to the Good Samaritans who stepped in to help a man in crisis this morning.

When a 63-year-old man was in distress on the westbound flyover at 99 & 290, passersby didnโ€™t hesitate. They moved in, held onto him, and stayed until our deputies arrived.

EMS transported him to receive care, and our deputies are following up to help connect him with mental health services.

Today, compassion and courage made a difference.

Louisiana: As you may now know, LPSO deputies were dispatched to a disturbance / home invasion call last night which ended with the suspect vehicle in an innocent familyโ€™s living room. This morning, I received this from the family -

โ€œI just want to praise Deputy Carrier for going above and beyond the call of duty last night when he took time to pray with my wife and me for us, our house, and our family (which means more than you know), especially given the intensity of the situation. After loading the tow truck Deputy Carrier took a broom and started sweeping up glass and debris, knowing everything that was going on, lending a helping hand and just being great for trying to help my family. Thank you for having officers like him who are so dedicated to helping and going the extra mile. And thank you for everything you do for our parish; it does not go unnoticed.โ€

Democrats do not want our borders secured, and they do not want criminal illegal aliens deported from our country.

That's why Democrats have dangerous sanctuary policies in place that block local and state law enforcement from working with the Administration to remove violent illegal aliens.

That's why Democrats demonize and put a target on the backs of federal law enforcement officers who are simply doing their jobs to keep Americans safe.

And that's why Democrats are recklessly calling to defund federal law enforcement and abolish ICE.

Democrats will not keep the American people safe.

The First Amendment protects speech and peaceful assembly โ€“ not rioting, assault and destruction.

We have seen a coordinated campaign of violence by dangerous criminalsโ€”whether illegal aliens or U.S. citizensโ€”using their vehicles as weapons to attack law enforcement. This is the direct result of sanctuary politiciansโ€™ constant demonization of DHS law enforcement.

DHS is taking measures to uphold the rule of law and protect public safety and our officers.

Today, we stood together as a department as we honored the life and service of Officer Michael Miles. Surrounded by his family, friends, his brothers and sisters in blue and members of the community, we reflected on a legacy defined by courage, compassion and an unwavering commitment to protecting others.

Officer Miles showed up every day with a genuine desire to make our community a better place. He was guided by a deep sense of duty, serving in our Freedom Division for 13 years, both on patrol and as a training officer, and serving his country as U.S. Marine before that. His impact will continue to guide us in the way we serve and support one another.

Rest easy, Officer Miles. ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ–ค

BYE BYE, BOB!

After an incredible 45-year career in law enforcement, today we say goodbye to Bureau Chief Bob Stef, who is officially retiring from the Arapahoe County Sheriffโ€™s Office, Colorado.

Bob began his career in 1980 at just 22 years old. For perspective, that was the year Mount St. Helens erupted, and John Lennon of the Beatles was killed.

Bob was born in California and at the age of 14, moved to Aurora with his parents and three siblings. He graduated from Gateway High School and Regis University (Regis College back then), majoring in Business Administration. He was also a standout baseball player. His law enforcement career began when the Arapahoe County Sheriffโ€™s Office hired him to work in the jail. He didnโ€™t stay long, though. In 1981, he joined the Englewood Police Department, where he spent 10 years working patrol, as a motorcycle officer, and a detective.

In 1991, Bob joined the Aurora Police Department, where he would spend the next 26 years. During his time there, he worked patrol, served as a Public Information Officer, and rose through the ranks to Captain. In 2005, he worked the infamous Aarone Thompson case, involving the disappearance of a six-year-old girl whose parents were later arrested for her murder. Bob also responded to the Aurora Theatre Shooting in July of 2012.

Bob retired from Aurora PD in 2018, shifting his focus to his accounting practice and work with the Aurora Police Foundation. But retirement didnโ€™t last long. In 2019, newly elected Sheriff Tyler Brown reached out and asked Bob to returnโ€”this time as a Bureau Chief. Having known Sheriff Brownโ€™s family for many years, Bob couldnโ€™t say no. Sheriff Brown wanted Bobโ€™s experience, and Bob wanted to help.

So, in January 2019, Bob returned to the Arapahoe County Sheriffโ€™s Office. Fast forward to 2026, and Chief Stef was finally ready to retireโ€”for good. One very proud achievement is that he never had to discharge his weapon in the line of duty. He leaves law enforcement on a high note.

โ€œItโ€™s time,โ€ Bob said. โ€œI am very connected to my family, and I want to spend more time with them. I also love watching my son play high school and club baseball, supporting my other son achieve his goal of enlisting in the military, I want to play golf and I want to do some volunteering.โ€

When asked what heโ€™ll miss most, Bob shared: โ€œIโ€™m really going to miss the family-oriented culture at the Sheriffโ€™s Office. You wonโ€™t find a better group of people who work hard and love their job. Someone made me laugh every single day. Someone once said, 'You wonโ€™t miss the circus, but youโ€™ll miss the clowns.' Believe me, Iโ€™ll miss the clowns!โ€

Thank you, Bob, for your dedication, leadership, and commitment to the Arapahoe County Sheriffโ€™s Office and the community you served for nearly half a century. You will be deeply missed, and we wish you a happy, healthy, and well-earned retirement.
