Early this morning, a Coast Guard tactical team conducted a pre-dawn boarding and seizure of Motor Tanker Veronica in the Caribbean. As another sanctioned ghost fleet tanker, Motor Tanker Veronica had previously passed through Venezuelan waters, and was operating in defiance of President Trump’s established quarantine of sanctioned vessels in the Caribbean.

Through close coordination with our colleagues in the Departments of War, State, and Justice, our heroic Coast Guard men and women once again ensured a flawlessly executed operation, in accordance with international law.

What we saw last night in Minneapolis was an attempted murder of federal law enforcement. Our officer was ambushed and attacked by three individuals who beat him with snow shovels and the handles of brooms. Fearing for his life, the officer fired a defensive shot.

Mayor Frey and Governor Walz have to get their city under control. They are encouraging impeding and assault against our law enforcement which is a federal crime, a felony. This is putting the people of Minnesota in harm’s way.

The Cresson Volunteer Fire Department, Texas, sadly announced the death of Firefighter David Hendrix.

"Just after midnight this Thursday morning, January 15, Cresson Firefighter No. 38 David Hendrix left us for the arms of Jesus.  David fought cancer for well over a year, of a type presumptively assumed to have been caused by his firefighting work.  We've missed him while he valiantly fought for his health, and now we miss him even more.  He can never be replaced."
