Tensions boiled over outside the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday evening, as a large group of anti ICE protesters marching through the area clashed with a smaller group already gathered to protest the Iranian government.

According to eyewitness accounts, the incident unfolded around 7pm when the anti ICE demonstrators encountered the existing protesters demonstrating in solidarity with ongoing anti regime unrest in Iran. The two groups quickly turned hostile, with members of the anti ICE crowd attacking one individual, throwing punches, and setting an American flag on fire on the ground.

The smaller group had been stationed at the MDC protesting Iran’s authoritarian regime amid reports of intensified crackdowns on domestic protesters there. The arriving marchers, focused on opposing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations, reportedly initiated the physical confrontations.

No immediate reports of arrests or injuries were available.

A Colorado state trooper was injured when a traffic stop turned violent on I-76 near Sable. A driver of a BMW refused to exit the vehicle, became combative, and hit one of the troopers before fleeing. The injured trooper attempted pursuit but crashed due to weather and speed.

The trooper was taken to the hospital for evaluation of his injuries. The second trooper drove himself to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

UPDATE: A Spanish Fork Police Department K-9 is back home after a frightening training accident left him fighting for his life.

K9 Zero, a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois shepherd mix trained in narcotics detection and apprehension, was seriously injured Wednesday night during a routine training exercise. For reasons still unknown, Zero jumped over a railing and fell nearly 20 feet, striking a fire truck and the ground below.
