While the LAPD continues to suffer through its staffing crisis, 26 recruits will be sworn in as new officers at a ceremony this Friday at the academy near Elysian Park. After more than 900 hours of training, these new officers will hit the street and begin their Field Training. We congratulate the graduates and welcome them to the profession of protecting our citizens and creating safer neighborhoods.

People are being trained and told how to use their vehicles to impede law enforcement operations and then to run over anybody who gets in their way."

It was a Great Honor to speak with the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, who called to explain the situation of drugs and other disagreements that we have had. I appreciated his call and tone, and look forward to meeting him in the near future. Arrangements are being made between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the Foreign Minister of Colombia. The meeting will take place in the White House in Washington, D.C.

Prayers for the Lake County Sheriff's deputy who was seriously injured in the line of duty tonight.🙏🏻

Indiana: A deputy with the Lake County Sheriff's Department is in the hospital after a head-on collision with a suspect vehicle during a police chase.

Just after 6 p.m. Wednesday, a vehicle pursuit was initiated between a suspect vehicle and law enforcement in Gary, Indiana. The suspect vehicle was heading northbound at a high rate of speed. At 9th Avenue, the suspect vehicle struck a Lake County deputy’s vehicle head-on.
The deputy is being treated at an area hospital for multiple cuts and injuries.

The driver of the suspect vehicle was placed in custody and taken to an area hospital for evaluation. A passenger in the suspect vehicle was extricated by fire personnel and transported to an area hospital.
