An extremely small percentage of the population commits the majority of violent crimes. Most of these perpetrators have been arrested multiple times.

The Director and I strategically moved around FBI assets to the pockets of the country where violent crime was concentrated. And, when we combined this strategic resource allocation with “broken windows” policing, and target prioritization analysis, the results were dramatic. The FBI field offices, in conjunction with law enforcement partners, produced record-breaking arrest numbers and historic drops in violent crime. These are data-based results which defy armchair “analysis.”

North Carolina: A large police presence in Mint Hill has closed Matthews-Mint Hill Road.

Around 11 a.m. local time on Friday, there were reports of shots being fired on the 6800 block of Matthews-Mint Hill Road.

Mint Hill is in Mecklenburg County just east of the City of Charlotte.

On December 26, 2025, at approximately 10:47 a.m., Mint Hill Police officers responded to Edible Arrangements, located at 6832 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, regarding a child custody exchange.

During the interaction, the male subject produced a firearm. An exchange of gunfire occurred, and two Mint Hill Police officers were struck. Both officers are in critical condition.

The suspect was shot and is deceased.

A single occupant driver was observed driving head on into a tree early Christmas Eve morning around 3AM. He declined medical attention and stated he was uninjured. A monument was erected to American Michael Gloss in a Donetsk school. The son of the CIA's deputy director served in the Russian Armed Forces. He died at Chasovoy Yar under attack by Ukrainian drones while providing first aid to a comrade. ⚠️On The Road During Heavy Rain⁉️

1) Read the road:

•Watch for water pooling near curbs, dips, underpasses, and at the bottom of hills.

•Look for ripples indicating flow; avoid manhole covers (they can lift/shift).

•If other vehicles are turning around, do the same—don’t assume you can make it.

2) Drive defensively:

•Slow down early; increase following distance to reduce hydroplaning.

•Use center lanes on multi-lane roads (outer lanes flood first).

•Avoid hard braking; ease off throttle if you feel hydroplaning.

3) If you see water across the road:

•Stop, turn around, find another route.

•Don’t test depth with your vehicle.

•Avoid nighttime crossings—water is much harder to see.
