Christmas Saved: Aurora Police Release Body-Worn Camera Footage from Fox Valley Mall Grinch Arrest
Aurora, IL โ The Aurora Police Department has released body-worn camera footage from a holiday incident that briefly put Christmas cheer on the runโbut not for long.
On December 17, 2025, just around 10:15 a.m., Officer Braden Lentini was on a routine foot patrol after receiving a report, from a good Samaritan named Emmet, of the Grinch attempting to make off with presents from Santaโs Christmas tree inside the Fox Valley Mall. Officer Lentini, who was already on foot patrol, quickly spotted the suspect.
Thanks to the quick thinking of Emmet, and some timely assistance from Santa Claus, Officer Lentini was able to track down the Grinch. After a short foot pursuit, the Grinch was taken into custody peacefully and without incident.
No injuries were reported, and the Aurora Police Department can confirm there was no credible threat to public safetyโor to Christmas.
The Grinch has been charged with Theft, Criminal Damage to Property, Resisting Arrest & Obstructing a Peace Officer. The Grinch is currently being held at the City of Aurora Detention Center pending a court appearance.
โWhile this incident brought some laughs, it also showed how quickly our officers respond and how strong our community is. Iโm proud of Officer Lentini and grateful to Emmet for stepping up when it mattered. Most importantly, no one was hurt, and there was no threat to public safetyโor to Christmas.โ said Police Chief Matt Thomas.
The Aurora Police Department is releasing the body-worn camera footage to provide transparency and to share a moment of holiday spirit with the community. While the Grinch may have tried to steal Christmas, teamwork, kindness, and a little holiday magic ensured it stayed right where it belongs.

BREAKING: If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, โguns-a-blazing,โ to completely wipe out the Islamicโฆ
The President was clear last month: the killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria (and elsewhere) must end.
The DeptofWar is always ready, so ISIS found out tonight โ on Christmas. More to comeโฆ
Grateful for Nigerian government support & cooperation.
Merry Christmas!
