Undersheriff John Reilly has dedicated 32 years to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. Throughout his career, he has served in Special Enforcement Units, as a Detective and Detective Supervisor, and in multiple leadership roles. As a Captain, he supervised countywide patrol operations as Watch Commander, served as the Sheriff’s Adjutant, and worked as Chief of Police for the City of Moorpark. As a Commander, he led the East County Patrol Division and supervised the K-9 Unit, Department Chaplain Corps, and Tactical Response Team. In January 2023, he was promoted to the rank of Undersheriff.

Continuing a proud family legacy, John Patrick Reilly Jr. represents the fifth generation of law enforcement in his family. He graduated from the academy in 2025 and is currently serving in custody at the Main Jail.

A powerful reminder that service, dedication, and family tradition continue to shape our agency.

The DFW Airport Police Department Mourns the Loss of Sergeant Alan Works.

Sergeant Works experienced a medical emergency while on duty and succumbed to the resulting injury.

"Sgt. Works started his law enforcement career in 2007 with the Denton County Sheriff’s Office as a detention officer. He served as a police officer with Tarrant County College Police Department from 2013 to 2020 before joining the DFW Airport Police Department in 2020. In August 2022, he was promoted to sergeant, a role in which he quickly earned the respect of those he led and worked alongside. Sergeant Works received a Certificate of Merit in 2023 for exemplary service and served as a Field Training Officer and as a member of the Police Honor Guard."

SEATTLE ON TRIAL: Mayor, police chief had secret meetings with CHOP 'leader' days before black teen Antonio Mays Jr shot to death

In a stunning revelation during the ongoing Mays v. City of Seattle trial, a former leader of the 2020 Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ/CHOP) testified that she participated in a meeting with top Seattle officials to establish "designated casualty zones" outside the protest area for emergency responders to treat injured individuals. This testimony bolsters the plaintiffs' claims that the city's actions created a "state-created danger" that directly contributed to the death of 16-year-old Antonio Mays Jr., who was fatally shot inside the zone. The City of Seattle prohibited emergency responders from entering the area after forfeiting the Seattle Police East Precinct to Black Lives Matter (BLM) and Antifa rioters.
