An explosion at the Silver Lake Nursing Home in Bristol Township, Pennsylvania, caused a collapse and fire, reportedly due to a gas leak. Upper Makefield Township police described it as a mass casualty event, with several staff members and patients trapped inside.

First responders were searching for victims and using stretchers to rescue individuals from the debris. The nursing home is near Lower Bucks Hospital, providing proximity to medical support.

A Columbia police officer was taken to a local hospital after a crash involving a patrol vehicle late Monday night, according to the Columbia Police Department.
Police say the crash happened around 10:20 p.m. on Dec. 22, when a marked patrol vehicle traveling south on Range Line Street collided with a vehicle traveling west on Kennesaw Ridge Road.
The officer was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was treated for minor injuries at the scene and did not require hospitalization.

The National Weather Service has issued flash flood watches for many areas of Los Angeles County. Heavy rain can cause mudslides and debris flows, especially in burn scar areas. We want to remind residents not only to prepare but also to take precautions while driving. Here are a few tips to consider:
 
•Avoid sudden movements. Gentle steering, braking, and accelerating can help prevent hydroplaning or loss of control.

•Avoid standing water. Do not attempt to cross flooded intersections or roads, even a few inches of water can cause loss of control.

•Slow down, wet roads reduce traction. Roads tend to be slick during the first rain of the season due to build up oil and other debris that are lifted by the rainwater.

•Increase following distance, maintaining a farther gap between vehicles allows extra braking time.

•Identify safe routes. When possible, avoid low-lying areas, underpasses or roads near washes/creeks that may flood.

A Detroit police officer was injured after being shot in the foot during an investigation Tuesday night.

The incident happened in the area of Outer Drive and Lyndon Street while officers were responding to a police run and checking vehicles. A person from one of the cars let the pitbull out of the car to attack the officers.

Police say a pitbull ran toward and attacked the officer. The officer accidentally shot himself in the foot, and the dog was also struck.

The officer was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.

Maria A. Bucci, 51, is former Cranston mayoral candidate and current chair of the city’s Democratic Committee

She was charged with DUI after a traffic stop earlier this month

Bucci told the officers, “What are you going to do, shoot me?”

Court records say officers noted ‘severely bloodshot, glassy and watery eyes’

The report stated that Bucci cried out that she had “told her kids if they ever became a cop I’d k*ll them.”

She added, “only clowns become cops.”

Bucci was charged with a misdemeanor DUI and released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.
