SCOOP: Columbus, Ohio police are being instructed by Police Chief Elaine Bryant not to assist ICE during immigration operations; instead, they are to observe federal agents and "intervene" if they witness any "misconduct."

So if ICE needs immediate help she's not going to send her officers to help them? If so, she has no business being a Chief and is a disgrace.

As shoppers rush to buy last-minute holiday gifts, scammers are rushing to steal your money and personal information.  The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department would like to share helpful online shopping tips so everyone can have a crime-free shopping experience during the holiday season.

Use secure websites only: Shop from well-known merchants and look for “https” in the URL. The “s” at the end means the website is secure and encrypts your information.

Look for the padlock icon in the browser bar: If the padlock icon appears on the webpage, but is not in the browser bar, it may be a graphic a cybercriminal embedded to trick you into believing the website is secure.

Use a secure network: Avoid using public Wi-Fi for transactions. They are insecure and make your data vulnerable to interception. Use a VPN or your mobile data instead if possible.

Use credit cards: Most credit cards offer better protection against fraud and unauthorized purchases than debit cards.

Be wary of scams: Be suspicious of online deals which seem too good to be true or offers that have a time limit.  Scammers often create a sense of urgency and rely on fear to pressure victims into acting quickly. Avoid clicking on suspicious links in emails, on social media, and ignore pop-up messages.

Monitor your accounts: Check your monthly bank and credit card statements carefully ensuring there are no unauthorized purchases. If you find suspicious activity, contact your bank or credit card company immediately.

LATEST UPDATE: Coast Guard officials say five people have died and two are hospitalized after a plane from Mexico crashed in Galveston Bay, Texas. One person is still unaccounted for.

NEW: Ventura County man charged with criminal threats and bomb hoax.

Ventura County prosecutors charged a 32-year-old man with threatening to kill deputies, his parents and calling in a bomb hoax at a local business.

UPDATE: Wild Turkey Fire, Final Update, Dec. 22 at 10:30 p.m.  The fire is 100% contained.  Resources will be monitoring overnight as they work to re-open the area.

Hundreds of vehicles — including decorated tow trucks, police cars from multiple departments, Jeeps & more— filled the streets Sunday night for the “Light Up the Night Holiday Tow Truck Parade” at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.

The brightly lit parade circled the hospital to give child patients a front-row view of the lights.

The event is held each year to bring joy and comfort to children who are spending the holiday season in the hospital and away from their families.

The night also included a special appearance by Santa Claus. 🎅
