We reaffirm this commitment, and ask any victim to please come forward with any information pertaining to any individuals who engaged in illicit activity at their expense. "The shooting took place around 8:30 Sunday morning near Tecumseh Drive and E Borgfeld Drive.
According to Sheriff Javier Salazar, a woman was at home with her two children when a 38-year-old man tried to force his way into the home. She was able to flee and call authorities, and when deputies arrived, they spoke to the man in a makeshift room.

It was there that the man produced a weapon within 6 to 8 feet of the deputies, shooting one in the hip and another in the hand. The deputies were able to return fire, shooting the man in the upper body and killing him.
The woman and her two children were able to escape the situation safely. The officers are at University Hospital, both in stable condition.

Sheriff Salazar was unable to provide us with the deputies' identities, but says one has 10 years of service and one has two years of service. He asks that the community have patience while the department conducts a crime-scene investigation in the neighborhood."

Yesterday, I shared a video involving a silent alarm call that escalated without warning. This is another reminder, from a very different type of call.

This video shows officers responding to what appears to be a "routine" shoplifting call at a Walmart. During the encounter, the suspect suddenly produces a handgun and attempts to fire at police and loss prevention. Store security intervenes, and officers quickly disarm and take the suspect into custody.

This wasn’t a high-risk dispatch.
It wasn’t flagged as violent.
It was a call many officers have handled dozens of times.
And yet, it nearly turned deadly.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office confirms the death of Detention Service Officer Dakendrick Traylor.  Dallas County Sheriff’s Office received information earlier this week that Detention Service Officer Dakendrick Traylor had been involved in an off-duty motorcycle accident and was killed.

DSO Traylor was assigned to the Special Hospital Observation Team and was a member of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this difficult time.  DSO Traylor will be missed by his sheriff’s office family.
