FAILING UPWARDS: Remember Cudahy Vice-Mayor Cynthia Gonzalez whose video called on the leadership of local violent gangs to βdefend their turfβ against ICE Enforcement? Remember the Feds investigated her? Well, on a June 16th, this poor excuse for a public servant was sworn in as mayor. Cudahy leadership is a shit show.

At last nightβs council meeting we were able to recognize Officer Cecil for his response to a call for a wanted subject.
On October 26th, 2023, Officer Cody Cecil responded to an attempt to locate a wanted subject. The subject fled into a home and Officer Cecil had the subject barricaded inside of a bedroom. As Officer Cecil assessed the scene, the subject ambushed Officer Cecil and fired numerous rounds at point blank range with a rifle striking Officer Cecil numerous times in the arm and torso. The rounds fired at his torso were stopped by Officer Cecilβs ballistic plate; however, other rounds struck Cecilβs dominant hand, forearm, and bicep. Officer Cecil was able to obtain cover and apply a tourniquet to his injured arm. Officer Cecil then extracted himself safely from the residence.
Since the incident, Officer Cecil had numerous surgeries and physical therapy to recover. However, he was unable to return to duty due to the extent of injury.
Officer Cecilβs quick response, attention, and diligence saved his life and served as an inspiration for other officers.
Officer Cecil was presented with several items to show the departmentβs appreciation for his years of service.
Officer Cecilβs duty weapon which was struck and disabled, as well as ballistic plate and panel will be showcased in the department to serve as a reminder for both current and future officers to be safe in their daily duties.
