A Washington State Patrol (WSP) sergeant was hurt in a crash in Lakewood on Wednesday.

The collision happened at 8:50 a.m. on 112th Ave and Steele Street. The WSP said a pickup collided with the trooper's patrol vehicle.

The sergeant was trapped inside his car after the crash. He was in stable condition when he was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Office investigated the incident and later stated the driver of the pickup truck was texting when she crossed over the center lane and struck the patrol car.

A Massachusetts State Police trooper was injured in a hit-and-run in Billerica following a multi-car crash, police said.

Four cars were involved in a crash on Allen Road. One was the cruiser that the trooper was driving, and two others were driven by civilians. It is unclear who was driving the fourth vehicle.

The trooper was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

BREAKING: Police are investigating possible ties between the Brown University shooting and the deadly attack on an MIT professor just days later.

Senior law enforcement officials tell Target 12 that federal, state and local authorities are now examining possible ties between the two crimes. Multiple people familiar with the investigation said they have discovered evidence showing the two may be linked.

The potential connection marks a shift in the investigation. Ted Docks, special agent in charge of the FBI Boston office, said at a briefing Tuesday that there “seems to be no connection” between the two shootings. The next briefing is scheduled to be held at 4 p.m. Thursday.
