It is with heavy hearts that we share that Knox County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Bernie Lyon is currently hospitalized and in the ICU. Chief Lyon is presently receiving excellent care from a medical team working tirelessly to support his recovery.

Chief Deputy Lyon remains in critical condition; however, minor improvements were noted today.

Sheriff Tom Spangler and the Lyon family are deeply grateful for the continued prayers, support, and well wishes from our community and from law enforcement agencies across the region. Your encouragement has meant more than words can express over the past several days.

UPDATE: The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s inmate locator website lists Nick Reiner in custody and is being held on $4 million bail.

A Scottsdale police officer was injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning while responding to a separate call.

Just before 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 13, an officer was involved in a crash at Osborn Road and Drinkwater Boulevard while responding to another call.

The officer suffered minor injuries, while police said the driver in the other vehicle was not seriously injured. That driver was evaluated at the scene but declined to be taken to the hospital.

However, the officer was taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.
