"At approximately 12:24 p.m. on Friday, December 12, Bellevue Police responded to a call for service at the Bellevue Transit Center at 10850 NE 6th Street. It was during the response when an on-duty Bellevue Police Officer was involved in an officer-involved shooting. Both the Bellevue Officer and the suspect sustained injuries and were transported to an area hospital. 

Per state law and an agreement with the King County Independent Force Investigation Team (KC-IFIT), the incident has been officially transferred to KC-IFIT. An independent investigation of this case will be conducted by this team."

Guardsman wounded in terrorist attack can now breathe on his own as doctors hail ‘miraculous’ recovery.

More than two weeks after being shot in the head in Washington, DC, National Guard Staff Sargent Andrew Wolfe, 24, is breathing on his own and can stand with assistance, according to MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

Those are “important milestones that reflect his strength and determination,” said Dr. Jeffrey Mai, a neurosurgeon at the hospital.

Mai called Wolfe’s progress extraordinary and said in a statement, “Based on these improvements, he is now ready to transition from acute care to inpatient rehabilitation as the next step in his recovery journey.”

BREAKING: Today in Palmyra, Syria, two United States Army soldiers and one civilian U.S. interpreter were killed, and three were wounded.

The attack occurred as the soldiers were conducting a key leader engagement. Their mission was in support of on-going counter-ISIS / counter-terrorism operations in the region.

The soldiers’ names, as well as identifying information about their units, are being withheld until 24 hours after the next of kin notification.

This attack is currently under active investigation.

OFFICER-INVOLVED COLLISION UPDATE:

NPD Sgt. Justin Hackbarth was critically injured Thursday after being struck by a vehicle while working a prior incident on State Highway 9.

He remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition following an initial surgery today.

“Justin is a valued member of our department known for his selfless commitment to public service,” said Norman Chief of Police Kevin Foster. “We ask the community to keep Justin, his family, the medical professionals caring for him, and our entire team in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Collision Reconstruction Team is actively investigating the collision. NPD is grateful for the swift response and continued support of our local, county, and state partner agencies.

North Carolina: A man charged with driving while impaired hit three Winston-Salem police vehicles Thursday night, according to police.

The crash occurred around 9:45 p.m. in the 5900 block of Silas Creek Parkway.

The Winston-Salem Police Department said the officers were investigating a traffic accident when their patrol vehicles were hit. The officers were all inside their vehicles with emergency blue and red lights activated.

Police said Kenneth Devcon White was driving a Toyota Camry when he failed to move over for the patrol vehicles.

One officer received minor injuries from the crash as well as White.
