Connecticut: The female officer was attacked in what union officials say was an attempted sexual assault by an inmate.
During security check, an inmate began choking and punching the officer in the face without being provoked or warned.
Staff members immediately responded to the incident and restrained the inmate, who was transported to the MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institutionβs Restrictive Housing Unit.
The attack was an attempted sexual assault of the officer by an inmate serving 20 years for other sexually-related crimes, according to AFSCME Local 391, the union that represents correction officers.
In a news release from the union, they said it happened in the industries area and that the inmate dragged the officer into a camera "dead-zone," where security cameras can't see.
Union officials said the officer sustained a fractured eye socket, as well as scrapes and bruises on her upper body and face.
The officer was taken to the hospital, where she was treated and released, The Department of Correction said.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is warning drivers to slow down as road conditions deteriorate due to wintry weather conditions.
The warning comes after a trooper was struck in his patrol vehicle on Monday.
The accident happened on I-435 in northeast Kansas, where the trooper was working a crash. The KHP said the trooper was in his patrol car, parked on the right shoulder with emergency lights on, when it was struck by a passing vehicle.
βSlow down and move over for flashing lights, every single time!β said the Kansas Highway Patrol Troop A.
βThis could have ended much worse. Do your part, slow down and move over. Give first responders the space they need to stay safe.β
The trooper only suffered minor injuries. Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for his recoveryππ»

LATEST: L.A. City Council delayed action on wildfire rebuilding fee waivers β sending the issue back to committee after clashes over cost, scope, and fears the program could be misused.
At issue are two competing plans:
β Budget Committee plan: waive fees only for single-family homes/duplexes rebuilt up to 110% of their original size β $86M price tag.
β Ad Hoc Recovery plan: a far broader waiver for all fire-damaged structures with no size cap β up to $278M.
Councilmember Bob Blumenfield urged caution: βThe fee-waiver concept is trickyβ¦ thereβs really no such thing β the General Fund pays, at a time weβre struggling financially.β Members Tim McOsker and Katy Yaroslavsky also questioned voting without clearer numbers.

I don't think it's Trump who is worried about disclosures in the Epstein case.

EXCLUSIVE - The Bonta Files:
While running the California DOJ, Rob Bontaβs Chief of Staff, Viviana Becerra, quietly collected a $50,000 campaign check from his political committee - all documented, all real, all filed under penalty of perjury.
Not a consultant. Not a volunteer.
She was the Attorney Generalβs top aide when the money landed.
Legal loophole? Maybe.
Ethical disaster? Absolutely.
Sacramento loves to pretend this is βnormal.β It isnβt.
When the AGβs Chief of Staff is being paid by his campaign while managing DOJ operations, the conflict of interest isnβt subtle, itβs screaming - and weβve got the receipts.
The truth lives in the numbersβ¦ and these numbers donβt lie.
