Each year, Pittsburgh Police officers spend Thanksgiving morning delivering meals to those in need. The need has grown - now totaling around 5,000 meals.

I rode along with officers, shooting this story as part of our KDKA series "On a Positive Note."

Great news! Maryville Police Department Sheriff Tony Crisp announced Monday afternoon that Field Training Officer Justin Brown is making steady progress in his recovery after he was critically injured in a motorcade on Nov. 14.

Brown was released from the hospital around 3 p.m. Saturday and has been transferred to a rehabilitation center in Knoxville, where he will continue receiving treatment over the next several weeks.

It is with great sadness that we announce the end of watch for one of our very own, K-9 Gassman. K-9 Gassman passed away unexpectedly Friday due to a cardiac event.

K-9 Gassman has served Escambia County since October of 2023 alongside his handler, Deputy Matt Watkins. He mainly worked calls on the south end of our county, and will be remembered fondly by his community.

Thank you, K-9 Gassman for your dedication and service to Escambia County. May your memory never fade.
