2 Portland Oregon Police Officers Injured after Car Crashes Nearly Head-On into Cruiser.

A motorist accused of crashing his car nearly head-on into a Portland police car Sunday night in Northeast Portland is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving.

Zachary Kwok Lee, 47, of Portland, was driving a 2008 Toyota Prius east on Northeast Halsey Street when he turned left onto Northeast 129th Place, colliding with the marked Portland police car about 7:15 p.m., police said.

The officer driving the police SUV was not responding to a call and able to brake and slow the speed of the patrol vehicle before the collision, police said. Yet the impact pushed the police SUV into a fence and a car parked in a nearby driveway, according to police.

Lee and the two officers in the SUV were taken to a hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released. Lee was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center and the two officers are recovering at home, police said.

Police officer praised for rescue from burning vehicle, while driver faces charges.

Massachusetts: A Holbrook police officer pulled a driver from a burning pickup truck Saturday evening shortly after the driver plowed into several parked cars at high speed, officials said Monday while recognizing the officer’s quick action.

The man police identified as the driver, Douglas Silva Soares, 26, of Abington, remains hospitalized but is expected to face charges connected to the fiery crash, Holbrook Police Chief David Del Papa said in a statement Monday morning.

Georgia: A Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office deputy sustained minor injuries on November 8 after a vehicle failed to move over during a traffic stop on the Statesboro Bypass near Northside Drive.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the deputy was standing between his patrol vehicle’s driver-side door and a person he had just placed under arrest when a passing car struck the rear door. The impact forced the door into the deputy, knocking him off balance. Fortunately, he was able to walk away with only minor injuries — but officials emphasized that the outcome could have been far worse.
