BREAKING: Border Patrol agents reportedly fired upon in Chicago today.

"Today, U.S. Border Patrol was conducting immigration enforcement operations near 26th Street and Kedzie Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, when an unknown male driving a black Jeep fired shots at agents and fled the scene. An unknown number of agitators also threw a paint can and bricks at Border Patrol’s vehicles. Chicago Police Department was called for assistance and cleared the scene.  The shooter and vehicle remain at large, and this is a dynamic situation. 
 
This incident is not isolated and reflects a growing and dangerous trend of violence and obstruction. Over the past two months, we’ve seen an increase in assaults and obstruction targeting federal law enforcement during operations. These confrontations highlight the dangers our agents face daily and the escalating aggression toward law enforcement. The violence must end."

An Ansonia Police Officer was injured earlier this month after being attacked during a disturbance call.

Police arrested 21-year-old George Suazo on a warrant and charged him with assault on a police officer. He was released on $25k bond.

NEW: Law enforcement and emergency responders have been called to the scene of a helicopter crash in Wilson County, Tennessee Saturday afternoon.

"The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office is currently on the scene of a LifeFlight helicopter crash in the 7100 block of Cairo Bend Road. Deputies are working in coordination with multiple responding agencies at this time.

We are asking motorists to please avoid the area and seek an alternate route to allow emergency personnel to safely and effectively manage the scene.

NEW: A Malibu homeowner tells me the insurance premium presented to his family to cover their home, minus earthquake coverage, is $90,000 per year.

With limited insurance options -- companies like State Farm, Allstate, Farmers, Nationwide and other major companies have stopped writing new policies in California -- and without a better option, they are going without insurance.

Insurance companies cite challenges like increased wildfire mismanagement, the high cost of construction, over-regulation and difficulty in getting approval by the state for rate hikes as the reason for higher premiums.

The Malibu family's only option is the "insurance of last resort," the California Fair Plan, which recently had to collect $1 billion to keep from going under. "We are one fire away from insolvency," says one CA assemblyman.

When that happens, there will be no insurance option for California homeowners.

BREAKING: BIG power outage in Los Angeles.

Nearly 100,000 LADWP customers are without power after widespread outages hit the city Saturday afternoon

An off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer died in a fiery one-car crash in Santa Clarita overnight, and a woman who was not involved in the collision was arrested for driving through the scene of the investigation. 

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the crash was reported at 2:14 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Cinema Drive and Bouquet Canyon Road, not far from the Valencia Mart Shopping Center. 

Firefighters were the first to arrive on scene and discovered the vehicle fully engulfed in flames. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

“While deputies investigated the deadly crash, a separate driver plowed through the active crime scene perimeter,” an LASD spokesperson said. “Deputies arrested the woman on suspicion of driving under the influence.”

The woman’s name was not immediately released. 
There were reports that the decedent in the crash was an off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer, and an LAPD spokesperson confirmed that detail just before 9 a.m. Saturday.

The spokesperson did not disclose the officer’s name but did say that more information would be released after the officer’s next of kin is notified.

Leave it to MSNBC to glorify a man who abandoned his own child in a vehicle to go and attack federal law enforcement, wielding a hammer and throwing rocks at law enforcement.

When he was arrested for assault they found a pistol in his car that was reported stolen out of the state of New York. He has an active warrant for property damage. 

Law enforcement rightly looked over the child until they were in the safe custody of a guardian.

Our hearts are heavy today with the line-of-duty death of WakeMed Police Officer Roger Smith.🙏🏻

Tragedy struck a Wake County hospital Saturday morning in Garner, North Carolina where an officer was gunned down in the line of duty at the emergency room.

According to law enforcement officials, the shooting occurred around 9 a.m. Saturday at the WakeMed Garner Healthplex on U.S. 70.

A statement from WakeMed said that Officer Roger Smith, 59, died from his gunshot injuries at the WakeMed Raleigh on New Bern Avenue. Authorities said a struggle broke out just before Smith, who is from Knightdale, was shot in the emergency department lobby.

“Our thoughts and prayers are now with the Smith family as they come to learn of this tragic event.”

Smith had 14 years of service with WakeMed Campus Police and previously served with Knightdale Police Department, according to a WakeMed news release. He was from Knightdale and went to Wake Tech.
