Nine Arrested Following Two Robberies at Two High Schools

Yesterday afternoon around 4:30, officers arrested nine individuals in connection with two separate robberies that occurred at Monterey Trail High School and Laguna Creek High School.

The group, consisting of seven juveniles and two 18-year-olds, is suspected of committing the robberies. The first incident took place at Monterey Trail High School, where the suspects used physical force to steal jewelry from at least one victim before fleeing the campus.

A short time later, the suspects arrived at Laguna Creek High School, where they again forcibly took jewelry from another victim. During this robbery, one of the suspects brandished a firearm.

Detectives checking the surrounding areas later located a group matching the suspects’ description in a shopping center parking lot, in the City of Sacramento near Cosumnes River College. As officers approached, several suspects took off running, but all nine were quickly detained.

Video surveillance confirmed the involvement of the detained individuals in the robberies. Officers recovered stolen property belonging to the victims as well as a firearm believed to have been used during the crime.

All nine suspects were arrested and face multiple charges including robbery.

Judicial activism at its worst.

A single district court in Rhode Island should not be able to seize center stage in the shutdown, seek to upend political negotiations that could produce swift political solutions for SNAP and other programs, and dictate its own preferences for how scarce federal funds should be spent.

With hours to go before the TRO compliance clock runs, and the First Circuit waiting to deny immediate relief until minutes ago, we have filed an emergency stay application in the Supreme Court requesting immediate relief.

As our Supreme Court brief puts it:

β€œThe core power of Congress is that of the purse, while the Executive is tasked with allocating limited resources across competing priorities.  But here, the court below took the current shutdown as effective license to declare a federal bankruptcy and appoint itself the trustee, charged with picking winners and losers among those seeking some part of the limited pool of remaining federal funds.”

BREAKING: Federal court allows AG to intervene in consent decree case involving Sheriff’s Office in New Orleans not complying with ICE detainer orders and State law

It’s clear that the consent judgment in this case should be dissolved on its own terms, among other reasons. I look forward to ending it and encourage the Sheriff to adopt a policy that does not obstruct ICE or conflict with State and federal law.
