Multiple Robbery Arrests 🚔

On November 4, 2025, South Gate Officers responded to three separate robberies throughout the city.

Robbery Arrest – South Gate Park.

Officers responded to a robbery at Tweedy Blvd & Walnut Ave. Three suspects stole a victim’s shoes, backpack, and phone before running off. All three were quickly caught, identified, and arrested.👮‍♂️

Armed Robbery Arrest - San Miguel Av.

That same day, officers responded to an armed robbery on the 9800 block of San Miguel Ave. Four suspects, one armed with a knife, stole a victim’s phone and fled in a vehicle. The suspects were located, identified, and arrested. The victim’s property was recovered.

Chain Snatch Robbery Arrest – Tweedy  Blvd. & California Ave.

Later that day, a victim waiting for the bus was robbed of his chain by three masked suspects. With help from LASD deputies, the suspects were stopped, identified and arrested. The victim’s property was also recovered. 🚔💪

Thanks to quick action by South Gate Police officers and assistance from LASD deputies, all involved suspects were located and arrested.

THREE research scholars from China - Xu Bai, Fergfan Zhang, and Zhiyong Zhang - have been charged with conspiracy to smuggle biological materials into the United States and for making false statements to U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers. These are the latest charges in a string of cases stemming from Chinese National students’ criminal activities at university research centers. FBI Counterintelligence will NOT tolerate any attempt to exploit American institutions to break the law, and we remain dedicated to protecting our communities and our educational institutions from threats like these.  
 
The FBI leads the National Counterintelligence Task Force (NCITF) which has 55 federal and 143 state and local partners, with a counterintelligence task force (CITF) in every FBI field office. The NCITF launched a nationwide initiative to crack down on bio-smuggling, and CITF members FBI Detroit, HSI, and CBP worked together to investigate this case.
