Sgt. Hanafin has retired from the Scottsdale Police Department after more than 30 years of service.

He began his journey with Scottsdale PD in 1994. Ten years later, he earned the rank of Sergeant, first serving as a patrol Sergeant before moving on to the Training Unit, where he helped shape the next generation of officers. His commitment to integrity led him to Internal Affairs, and after his time there, he returned to patrol to continue serving our community on the front lines. Most recently, he has made a lasting impact in the Wellness Unit, supporting the health and well-being of his fellow officers.
