Chief Layman began her career as a patrol officer and worked up the ranks to become Chief in 2020. NEW: The Department of Homeland Security says Jose Garcia-Sorto, a man from Honduras, is in stable condition after being injured in a shooting involving ICE officers during an attempted traffic stop on I-17 in north Phoenix, Arizona.

Authorities say as Garcia-Sorto began to drive away, an ICE officer was in the path of his vehicle. "Fearing for his life, the officer defensively discharged his service weapon two times striking Garcia-Sorto’s vehicle," DHS said.

Elsinboro Township, NJ — Officers from the Salem County Sheriff’s Office recently came to the aid of a large horned owl found injured along a roadway in Elsinboro Township.

While on patrol, an officer discovered the majestic bird grounded and unable to fly safely out of harm’s way. Acting quickly to protect both motorists and the owl, officers secured the scene and contacted John Fox, a local Bald Eagle rescue specialist, for assistance.

With careful coordination, the Sheriff’s Officers, County Road Dept and Mr. Fox safely contained the owl and ensured it received immediate attention. The bird was later transported to a wildlife rescue sanctuary in Delaware, where it is receiving professional care and rehabilitation.

Sheriff Charles M. Miller commended the response and the rescue specialist for their quick thinking and compassion.

“It’s always rewarding when our office can help protect wildlife and ensure the safety of our community at the same time,” said Sheriff Miller. “We’re grateful to Mr. Fox and the sanctuary staff for their expertise and dedication.”

The Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that if they encounter injured wildlife, they should avoid handling the animals and contact local authorities or wildlife specialists for assistance.

Please pray for the Craven County Sheriff’s deputy who was stabbed in the line of duty last night.🙏🏻

Authorities are searching for a man accused of killing his grandmother and stabbing a deputy, according to the Craven County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina Center for Missing Persons.

On Wednesday night, deputies went to the Bojangles in Vanceboro after reports that 24-year-old Dominic Liam Connelly had been spotted. Connelly is accused of ‘brutally’ killing his grandmother and going on the run.

The deputy was reportedly stabbed in the leg. Craven County Sheriff Chip Hughes told sister station WNCT that the deputy is okay and has been released from the hospital.

The Richardson Police Department, Texas, sadly announced the death of Lieutenant Thomas S. Koch, who lost his courageous battle with cancer on October 24, 2025.

For 16 years, Lt. Koch served the Richardson Police Department with honor, dedication, and compassion. He was not only a respected leader but also a mentor and friend to all who had the privilege of working beside him. Lt. Koch is survived by his loving wife and four children, who were his greatest source of pride and joy.

Once again, New York City was hit by heavy rain — and the city’s infrastructure completely failed. This time, the chaos turned deadly. A man in Crown Heights, Brooklyn tragically drowned inside a flooded basement while trying to save his dog — a heartbreaking reminder of how dangerous the city’s negligence has become.

None of this is new. These exact failures have happened time and time again. The State of New York has been warned, has studied the problem, and has had every opportunity to prepare — yet nothing gets done.

Instead of investing in basic infrastructure that millions of New Yorkers rely on, Gov Kathy Hochul throws billions at fringe pet projects — transgender initiatives, Planned Parenthood expansions, and anything else that grabs woke headlines. Meanwhile, the core systems of the city are rotting beneath us.

People aren’t asking for miracles. They’re asking for trains that don’t flood, highways that don’t drown, and leadership that actually gives a damn. Instead, we get excuses, mismanagement, and billions flushed down the drain.

This is what failure looks like — and it starts at the top.

Gov. Hochul, get your act together. Every storm floods our subways, highways, and parks — and now people are dying. Stop throwing billions at woke nonsense and fix New York’s crumbling infrastructure. Lead or leave. Enough is enough.
