🎓 A milestone moment for CAL FIRE.

CAL FIRE celebrated the inaugural Company Officer Academy Graduation at the new Atwater Training Center on Friday, October. 24.

Fire Control Class 25-15 graduated 38 new Company Officers, marking the first ceremony held at the facility since it opened on July 7, 2025.

The Atwater Training Center expands CAL FIRE’s training capacity under the 66-hour work week implementation, creating more opportunities to prepare leaders for the field.

With this class, CAL FIRE has now graduated over 500 new Company Officers in 2025—and is on track to exceed 650 by year’s end.

Utah: Suspect shot and killed, officer injured while responding to 'urgent assault call' in Salt Lake City

One man died, and an officer was injured after Salt Lake City police responded to an "urgent assault call" near 2100 S.

Nearly 20 police officers responded to an officer-involved critical incident on the corner of 2100 S 300 W on Wednesday, according to officials with the Salt Lake City Police Department.

Police said they responded to an assault call, confronting a man who allegedly threw a rock at an officer. At least one officer fired their gun at the man, and the suspect was transported to the hospital.

The man who was shot “was then transported to an area hospital where he died on his way or when he arrived at the hospital,” Christiansen said.

“One of our officers were injured,” he said, describing the injuries as non-life-threatening.

Earlier today, at the direction of President Trump, the Department of War carried out a lethal kinetic strike on yet another narco-trafficking vessel operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization (DTO) in the Eastern Pacific.

This vessel, like all the others, was known by our intelligence to be involved in illicit narcotics smuggling, was transiting along a known narco-trafficking route, and carrying narcotics. Four male narco-terrorists were aboard the vessel—and killed—during the strike, which was conducted in international waters. No U.S. forces were harmed in this strike.

The Western Hemisphere is no longer a safe haven for narco-terrorists bringing drugs to our shores to poison Americans. The Department of War will continue to hunt them down and eliminate them wherever they operate.
