NEW: A horrifying story out of North Carolina, Wellington Dickens, who has been arrested 7 previous times, including for child abuse...
...has just been arrested for murdering his 4 children, ages 6, 9, 10, and 18
Their bodies were discovered in his truck this morning.
On Monday, October 27th at approximately 10:09 PM, Johnston County 911 Communications received a call from a man later identified as Wellington Delano Dickens III, who lives at the address of 101 Springtooth Dr., Zebulon NC. Mr. Dickenβs relayed to the call taker he had killed his children. Johnston County Sheriffβs Office Deputies responded to the caller's address and located Mr. Dickens. Mr. Dickens stated to deputies that his 3-year-old son was inside the house alive and 4 of his other children were deceased inside the trunk of a vehicle in the garage of the residence. Mr. Dickens' 3-year-old son was located and found unharmed in the residence. A preliminary investigation discovered what were believed to be multiple bodies in the trunk of a vehicle in the garage. Deputies determined what was believed to be human remains in the trunk that had been there for a long period of time. The scene was secured, and investigators were contacted. Johnston County Sheriffβs Office investigators applied for and obtained a search warrant for the address of 101 Springtooth Dr., Zebulon, NC. Through further investigation it is believed Mr. Dickens killed three of his biological children, ages 6, 9 and 10, and his 18-year-old stepchild. The State Medical Examiner's Office was contacted and responded to the scene. Crime scene investigators with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation were contacted and responded to the scene to assist the crime scene investigators with the Johnston County Sheriffβs Office. Due to the apparent time since death, positive identification of the decedents will be confirmed with the assistance of the State Medical Examiner's Office.
At the time of this release, 38-year-old Wellington Delano Dickens III has been charged with one count of murder in the death of his juvenile child. The defendant is being held in the Johnston County Jail without bond. This is an active investigation with multiple additional charges anticipated as the investigation unfolds.
