Authorities are on scene of an ongoing standoff near Orange Ave and Swanee Lane in West Covina.

Residents in the area reported hearing gunshots, and SWAT units are currently on scene. Law enforcement has established a perimeter, and nearby residents are urged to remain indoors until the situation is resolved.

It is with deep sorrow that we share the tragic loss of La Mesa Police Officer Lauren Craven, who was killed in the line of duty late Monday night.

Officer Craven was returning to the city of La Mesa from San Diego Central Jail when she came upon a collision on eastbound Interstate 8 at Fairmont Avenue.
After exiting her vehicle to assist, she was tragically struck and killed by another motorist.

Officer Craven’s actions in her final moments exemplified her unwavering dedication to service and the safety of others—a reflection of how she lived every day. Officer Craven was known for her tenacity, courage, and compassion-qualities that inspired her peers and strengthened her community. We ask that you keep her family, friends, and the members of the La Mesa Police Department in your prayers as they navigate this profound loss.

Her legacy of service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

BREAKING: Per multiple ICE sources, Jashanpreet Singh, the semi-truck driver suspected of killing three people in a DUI crash on the 10 freeway in Ontario, CA yesterday, is an Indian illegal alien who was caught & released at the CA border by the Biden admin in March 2022. I’m told ICE is placing  a detainer request on Singh with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, where he is in custody on suspicion of DUI causing great bodily injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He has not been formally charged yet.

Police say Singh was speeding and under the influence, never hitting his breaks, when he crashed into slow moving traffic on the freeway, causing a devastating and deadly chain reaction crash that killed 3 people. The victims have not been identified yet.

UPDATE ON CRITICALLY INJURED OFFICER:

This is El Reno Police Sgt. Thomas Duran and his wife Kirsten. The Oklahoma Fraternal Order of Police says Sgt. Duran is not improving from injuries he sustained when a driver ran into him while he was helping a pedestrian. The police union says Duran’s family is preparing to honor his wishes to become an organ donor if he continues to not improve. He is still alive, and they are praying for a miracle. They’ve not made the decision yet to enter end-of-life care, but they will honor his wishes to save others if his condition continues to decline.
