2 suspects dead, 2 CHP officers injured after crashing into soundwall
Two people were killed and three were seriously injured, including two California Highway Patrol officers, after a pursuit ended with two crashes.
CHP officers tried to pull over a white Mercedes sedan for allegedly speeding at about 3:40 a.m. on westbound Interstate Highway 580, east of Edan Canyon Road, in Castro Valley, according to the CHP's Dublin Area Office.
The driver allegedly refused to stop and drove into San Leandro, onto westbound Interstate Highway 238, where they tried to exit at East 14th Street and crashed into the soundwall.
The pursuing CHP cruiser, which had two officers in it, also crashed into the soundwall following the Mercedes' collision. The two vehicles never collided, according to the CHP.
