Prayers for the Fresno K-9 officer Nick who was injured in the line of duty last night.🙏🏻

California: A K-9 officer was injured Tuesday night while taking down a man accused of hitting someone in the head with a chunk of asphalt.

Police say Keon Pyant had armed himself with a large chunk of asphalt and approached a man around 8 p.m., sitting at a bus stop near Calaveras Street and Van Ness Avenue. When the man turned away, police say Pyant hit him twice in the side of the head with the asphalt.

He was treated on scene for a large laceration.

Pyant was located a short distance away by Skywatch. When K-9 Nick made contact, police say Pyant was still armed with asphalt.

According to officers, Pyant raised the asphalt towards them several times before trying to run away. Just as K-9 Nick got to him, police say he turned and hit him in the face.

Despite a broken tooth, K-9 Nick was able to hold his grasp on Pyant until officers took him into custody.

K-9 Nick was taken to the Fresno Emergency Vet and is now recovering with his handler.

A domestic dispute between siblings in Miami escalated into a shooting that left two police officers wounded and ended with the gunman, 27-year-old Mason Triana, dead after an hours-long standoff with SWAT teams, authorities said.

Both officers, one male and one female, sustained gunshot wounds to their legs and were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center — where they are reported to be in stable condition.

An NYPD sergeant was rushed to the hospital for a serious head wound following a “violent struggle” between the cop and a trigger-happy suspect involved in a Bronx domestic robbery Thursday night, police said.

Cops received a call from a father who said his adult son had robbed his mother and older brother at gunpoint at a residence around 9:16 p.m. on Van Nest Avenue, Chief of Patrol Philip Rivera said in a press conference early Friday morning.

After responding to the scene, the father told police he believed his son had fled to a building near Paulding Avenue and East Gun Hill Road – sending police to barricade the residence, Rivera said.

After knocking on the door, the 18-year-old suspect denied he was involved in the robbery – though his father recognized his voice, according to police and sources.

As officers attempted to keep the door closed while waiting for additional authorities to arrive, the gunman fired three shots from inside the building and attempted to flee out the front door, where a violent struggle ensued as cops tried to take him into custody, Rivera added.

The unidentified sergeant fell back and struck his head during the fight, causing him to suffer a serious head injury, police said.

The cop was brought to Jacobi Medical Center and is currently in stable condition, police confirmed.
