China has told its police forces near Hong Kong to be ready to crack down on 'subversive, violent and terrorist activities' ahead of the country's 70th anniversary. The order was issued by the head of China's Public Security Ministry to officers in the southern province of Guangdong after anti-government unrest in the financial hub escalated to a new level over the weekend. Beijing has mobilised hundreds of military trucks and thousands of paramilitary police officers to Shenzhen, a city that borders Hong Kong, and carried out at least two large-scale anti-riot drills to warn activists. ๐ฑ #HK
The remains of 227 children have been discovered at a site in Peru in what experts believe is the world's largest sacrifice site. Researchers have been digging at the site in Huanchaco, a beach-side tourist town north of the capital Lima, since last year. Chief archaeologist Feren Castillo said the children, who were aged between four and 14, were sacrificed in a ritual to honor the pre-Colombian Chimu culture's gods. It is thought that they may have been killed to try and stop bad weather known as the El Nino phenomenon in the region. ๐๐ฟ๐ฑ

This is the terrifying moment an enraged rhino attacked an animal keeper in her car at a German safari park, flipping it over three times. The shocking attack took place at the Serengeti Park in Hodenhagen, a municipality in the German state of Lower Saxony and was filmed by a visitor. The rhino bull, named Kusini, 30, slammed his horns and body into the animal keeper's car before rolling it over while she was still inside the vehicle. Despite the horrific attack, the zookeeper, who was driving a small hatchback painted with stripes, somehow emerged mostly unscathed, only sustaining a few bruises.๐ฆ #fuck_lucky

Murder suspect Matthew Bernard, 18, was pictured today in a mugshot that shows him with a bandage on his head after his arrest in Virginia for the slayings of his mother, sister and baby nephew. The default rate of mortgages in the U.S. has increased for the first time since the financial crisis, according to a new report. In the second quarter of 2019, the national default rate increased 3% from the same quarter last year, the first such rise in a decade after excluding the impact of the 2017 hurricane season, according to Black Knight Mortgage Monitor. However, experts caution that the spike in defaults is not necessarily cause for panic, citing possible weather-related impacts and a subsequent drop in delinquencies in July. The map shows each state's first lien defaults as a percentage of all mortgages for Q2.

Florida officials have urged residents to stock up on at least a week's worth of supplies ahead of Hurricane Dorian as Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency in the state. The storm was upgraded to from a tropical storm to a hurricane on Wednesday as winds reached 75mph. Dorian is moving northwest at about 13mph and is expected to make landfall along the eastern shore of Florida late this week after causing flooding and destruction across the Caribbean. The National Hurricane Center says the Category 1 hurricane could strengthen as it crosses over warm Atlantic waters, potentially becoming a Category 3 hurricane by the time it reaches the US. ๐ช๐ฆ๐ฑ
