Douglas County Deputies Assist in DUI Pursuit with Successful Grappler Deployment

In the early hours of October 4, 2025, at approximately 4:22 A.M., Douglas County Deputies responded to assist the Aurora Police Department in pursuit of a suspected DUI driver traveling westbound on E-470, passing Gartrell Road. 

Douglas County deputies responded immediately and set up two sets of stop sticks along E-470 in an attempt to bring the pursuit to a safe conclusion. Despite these efforts, the suspect vehicle continued westbound.

A Douglas County Deputy, operating a patrol vehicle equipped with the Grappler device, joined the pursuit along with another deputy. After positioning behind the suspect, both maneuvered to the front of the pursuit. The suspect vehicle, which struck the concrete barrier multiple times, was ultimately stopped when our deputy successfully deployed the Grappler just west of South Quebec Street.

The vehicle was brought to an immediate and controlled stop. The suspect was compliant and taken into custody by Aurora Police without incident.

BREAKING: FBI & ATF are offering a $50,000 reward for information after assaults on federal officers tied to the “Midway Blitz” immigration enforcement push in Chicago.

The Chicago Divisions of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) announced the reward on Monday, afternoon, urging the public to come forward with tips, photographs, or video footage of the October 4 incidents in Brighton Park.

We pray for the Nassau County Police Department motorcycle officer who was seriously injured earlier today in a collision with an SUV. 🙏🏻

New York: An on-duty Nassau County Highway Patrol officer was seriously injured in a crash in Lindenhurst on Monday, Suffolk police said.

The crash, which involved another motor vehicle, occurred at the intersection of North Wellwood Ave. and Jerome St., officials said.

Tommy Shevlin, president of the Nassau Police Benevolent Association, said the officer was escorting a funeral procession when the crash occurred. 

The officer, who was not identified by authorities, was transported to a hospital. He is in serious but stable condition, a Nassau police spokeswoman said. 

"He remains in surgery and has a long road to recovery ahead of him," Shevlin said.
