On Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending the Altadena Mountain Search and Rescue Pancake Breakfast. It was great to spend time with residents, volunteers, and deputies while listening to their experiences and sharing the community spirit that makes Altadena a special place.

This morning, I had a very good telephone call with President Lula, of Brazil. We discussed many things, but it was mostly focused on the Economy, and Trade, between our two Countries. We will be having further discussions, and will get together in the not too distant future, both in Brazil and the United States. I enjoyed the call — Our Countries will do very well together!

Members of the first responder community gathered outside Lake Canyon Elementary School in Galt Monday to offer support to the family of a Chowchilla police officer who died in a car crash on Friday.  

Officer Ray Barrantes was involved in the crash while on duty late Friday, Chowchilla police said. The circumstances of the collision are under investigation.  

On Monday, law enforcement and firefighters escorted Barrantes’ son to school outside Lake Canyon Elementary School.  

“We consider ourselves more of a family than a department,” said Daniel Denny with Chowchilla police. “We all know each other. We all eat lunch together.”  Barrantes’ wife Jessica Barrantes said  the show of support “means so much to us.”💙
