We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of an officer with the Chowchilla Police Department, who was involved in a fatal traffic collision while on duty.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the entire Chowchilla Police Department…
Chowchilla Police identified Officer Ray Barrantes as the officer killed in crash while on duty in Madera County Friday night.

Officer Barrantes was from Dos Palos, starting his career with the Mendota Police Department before moving on to West Sacramento.

Shortly after, he took a job with the Chowchilla police department. He joined the community and deciding to raise his three kids there, two girls and a boy. He also opened up a t-shirt business, On Point Apparel.

Chief Palmer said Barrantes was a hard-working man who loved his community.

"I know he had a really strong relationship with some of our younger officers and mentoring them. And he just brought a maturity to us and that experience. It's going to be greatly missed," said Chief Palmer.

This is the first time an officer died in the line of duty with the Chowchilla Police Department.

In the Officers honor, Governor Newsom ordered all state flags to half-staff through next weekend.

Rest In Peace, HeroπŸ’™πŸ–€

Sec. Noem: "What has been most shocking to me is to see these local Governors and Mayors not stand up for law and order. We will go into Chicago, we will go into Portland, and we’ll make sure we have the backs of our law enforcement β€” that’s what the DeptofWar is providing for us."

Under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Noem we have a whole-of-government approach to making America SAFE again.

The people in government that spread this anti-law enforcement rhetoric need to be removed. They are leading the charge on the rise of assaults on law enforcement.

Gangs, cartel members, and known terrorist organizations have placed bounties on the heads of several of our law enforcement officers.

These violent riots are not about free speech. This is the rule of law vs. anarchy.

We will win.

The attack yesterday in Chicago underscores the dangers law enforcement officers face every day as they remove criminal illegal aliens from American neighborhoods.

The violence and dehumanization of these men and women who are simply enforcing the law must stop. We are praying for our law enforcement and their families.
