A suspicious device was found near the exterior of Old Main. University and Local law enforcement were dispatched to the scene. A device was located and deemed to be a non-explosive device.

Out of an abundance of caution, the bomb squad detonated the suspicious device. Old Main building is now clear and safe. All scheduled events may resume as normal.

We are not slowing down.

Heartbreaking news to report, as we’ve now learned a Tulsa Firefighter was killed in this morning's 5 vehicle crash in Owasso, Oklahoma near 116th street north and Garnett.

Police say a driver slammed into several cars stopped at a red light and all the cars caught fire.

The Tulsa Fire Department released this statement:

“It is with deep sadness that the Tulsa Fire Department confirms the loss of one of our own, who was involved in a fatal accident in Owasso on September 30, 2025.

This firefighter faithfully served the Tulsa community with courage, dedication, and compassion. He was not only a trusted colleague and respected leader, but also a beloved member of our fire family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fellow firefighters during this difficult time. Out of respect for the family, additional details will not be released at this time. Funeral and memorial arrangements will be shared once they are finalized in coordination with his loved ones."🙏🏻

Eyes in the Sky. K9 on the Ground. Suspect in Custody.🚨

Last week, APD officers responded to a domestic violence call along S. Sable Blvd. When they arrived, the suspect, 29-year-old Benlly Leon-Escalona, had the door chained shut. The moment he cracked it open, he didn’t surrender, but ran. ➡️

Bad move.

Our officers though, were quickly right behind him and he didn’t get far. Despite briefly losing sight of him, our Real-Time Information Center and Drones as First Responders program zeroed in, spotting him trying (and failing) to hide by laying down in a field near 2nd & Evanston. 🚔

With K9 and determined officers closing in, Leon-Escalona was taken into custody.

This wasn’t just a foot chase, it was the conclusion of a 24-hour ordeal. The victim had been kidnapped, locked inside a closet for hours, and threatened with her life. She courageously escaped to a neighbor’s home and called police, setting everything in motion.

Because of the relentless teamwork of our graves officers, swing shift who stayed late, dispatch, K9, and ESS units, this dangerous suspect is now facing charges of assault, kidnapping, criminal tampering, obstruction, and domestic violence. He's being held without bond at Arapahoe County Detention Center.💪

Thank you to every officer and team member who refused to give up until this victim was safe.
