A motorcycle officer with the L.A. Police Department was alert and speaking with fellow officers after a crash on the 405 Freeway that left traffic snarled for miles.

Officers with the California Highway Patrol closed northbound lanes as the officer was being treated and ultimately rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance in unknown condition.
