Yankee Stadium holds a moment of silence ahead of the Yankees-Tigers game for Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk after he was assassinated at an event at a university in Utah.

Charlie was an American hero whose love for God, country, and family guided every step of his life. He was a faithful servant who poured himself into the fight for justice and freedom.

He challenged his generation with conviction, intellect, and dialogue. He believed deeply in the power of ideas and in the responsibility each of us has to defend the truth.

Like so many, I am devastated by this loss. My heart aches for Erika and their two beautiful children.

Charlie’s legacy of faith, love, and service will endure in the lives he shaped and the cause he so selflessly championed. We will honor him and we will not rest until justice is served.

BREAKING: CNN reports a 25-year-old individual is in custody in relation to the Charlie Kirk assassination.

Before tonight's game we held a moment of silence in memoriam of Charlie Kirk.

Kirk founded the youth activist group “Turning Point USA” and had become a fixture on college campuses. Charlie Kirk, a husband and father of two children, was 31 years old.

Our bomb squad was called to a home for an explosive device. Fortunately, when the homeowner found the device they contacted their local police department. They then contacted us. The item was found to be inert.

Combs was near the end of his shift patrolling at midnight along the Famoso Highway north of Bakersfield, when the front tire of his motorcycle blew out as he was crossing railroad tracks. The motorcycle turned over and the 33-year-old patrolman was hurled 70 feet and killed instantly.

NEW: LAPD shoots allegedly armed man in North Hills. The man was hospitalized after the shooting.

LAPD News: Prelim info: around 5:20pm, Mission Div ofcrs responded to a radio call of an ADW suspect there now in the area of Parthenia St. and 405 fwy underpass. At around the same time, a man with a gun call was generated for the same suspect.

An LAPD airship was above the call and directed ground units to the suspect walking on Parthenia at the freeway underpass. When the officers encountered the suspect, an officer involved shooting occurred.

The suspect, described as a male adult was struck by gunfire and taken into custody. Paramedics transported the suspect to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Suspect’s weapon remains at scene and will be collected as evidence.

No officers or other community members were injured during this incident. This is preliminary info as investigators review video, physical evidence and interviews of witnesses and officers involved.

Parthenia will be closed from Orion Ave to Haskell during the investigation.

NEW: CNN also reported that Utah police identified another person of interest in Charlie Kirk assassination, who they're currently looking for.
