The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) is aware of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision today, which lifts a judicial restraining order and permits federal agents to resume immigration enforcement operations in Los Angeles.

We recognize that this decision may create fear and uncertainty in many of our communities. We want to be absolutely clear: the LASD does not enforce civil immigration laws, nor do we inquire about a person's immigration status during our interactions with the public. Our role is to uphold public safety, protect individual rights, and build trust with every member of our community, regardless of immigration status.

The LASD does not participate in any federal immigration enforcement operations. Our involvement with federal agencies is limited to situations where there is an imminent threat to life or public safety, such as responding to a direct request for assistance when federal agents are under attack. In those rare cases, our response is solely to prevent violence and ensure safety and not to assist in immigration actions.

Any act of violence against law enforcement, local or federal, is unacceptable and will be addressed appropriately.

The LASD stands with all communities across Los Angeles County. We remain focused on building trust, enhancing public safety, and protecting the rights of every resident.

Massachusetts: A Fitchburg Police captain is recovering after authorities say he was attacked by a dirt bike operator last week.

A Fitchburg Police captain is recovering after authorities say he was attacked by a dirt bike operator on Friday morning.

According to police, the officer noticed a dirt bike operator driving erratically on Main Street before pulling into the Gulf gas station around 11:46 a.m.

When the officer approached the operator, authorities say the operator struck the officer multiple times.

The officer was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries and a laceration to the head, according to police.

Georgia: A longtime DeKalb County firefighter has died after being injured while battling a commercial fire Monday afternoon.

County officials said the veteran firefighter served with the department for 21 years. 

He was hurt while working to put out a blaze along South Stone Mountain Lithonia Road, just south of Chapman Road. 

Officials have not released the firefighter’s name or details about the fire. 

In a statement, DeKalb County Fire Rescue asked for the community’s prayers for the firefighter’s family and fellow first responders.🙏🏻

A California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer was injured after a Tesla crashed into him causing the officer to be ejected from his vehicle, CHP says.

The CHP said at 1:41 p.m., an electric leaf blower was reported in the two left southbound lanes. A CHP motorcycle officer from the Redwood City office responded to initiate a traffic break, officials said. 

Officials said the officer had his emergency lights on while conducting the traffic break, but that a 2026 Tesla Model Y did not yield to the officer and crashed into him. The officer was ejected from the bike, which was seen toppled over in one of the traffic lanes. 

CHP said the officer suffered major non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

A Pasadena police officer sustained a non-life-threatening injury Sunday evening after another officer unintentionally discharged a service weapon in the parking structure adjacent to the department’s headquarters, authorities said.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:18 p.m. on Sept. 7. According to city statements, the injured officer received immediate medical attention and is expected to recover.

A preliminary assessment indicated the firearm discharge was accidental. An internal investigation was launched immediately and remains ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident.

No additional details about the officers involved have been released.

A Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputy was transported to a local hospital after colliding with a civilian while responding to a call in Saugus, around noon. The incident occurred at Newhall Ranch Rd & Rye Cyn Rd, when a Deputy had been responding to a call with their lights and sirens.

While responding to the call for service, the Deputy entered the indicated intersection traveling northbound on Rye Cyn. After entering the intersection, the Deputy struck a civilian vehicle broadside, which had been travelling westbound on Newhall Ranch Rd.

The Deputy requested backup and paramedics to the scene of the collision, stating they had been injured in the crash. The Deputy was later transported to the hospital in unknown condition.  The condition of the civilian is unknown.
