Texas: An Atascosa County Sheriff's Office deputy was injured in a hit-and-run crash, and the suspect was arrested thanks to quick work by Pleasanton Police Department and DPS.

The suspect, who was out on bond for an unrelated aggravated robbery charge, was arrested shortly after fleeing the scene.

According to video evidence, the crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 16 and FM 3350, ACSO authorities said. Authorities say the suspect, identified as 44-year-old Abel Pena of Pleasanton, allegedly ran a red light, striking a marked patrol vehicle that was traveling northbound on Highway 16. The deputy was not responding to a call at the time of the collision.

Idaho: And just like that, Idaho is once again seeing large fire growth after a cooling and wetting trend. The Ulm Creek Fire has quickly grown to 1,800 acres near Ulm Peak on the Idaho/Montana border.

The fire is burning on both the Idaho Panhandle and Kootenai National Forests with 62 personnel, helicopters, heavy equipment, and a Type 3 IMT in command.

Gem Peak Lookout on the Cabinet Ranger District has been closed as it falls inside the Forest closure area. A warming and drying trend is moving it’s way across the northern Rockies this week, and more fire growth is expected.
