Washington: The Katy Creek Fire is standing up today and is estimated at 250+ acres now. The fire is burning in heavy timber 6 miles northwest of Kettle Falls, Washington.

Due to the location and the terrain, crews have to hike into the fire and heavy equipment cannot be utilized. Both fixed wind and rotor aircraft are on scene. Additional crews were ordered. This fire was just 40 acres this morning, but hot and dry weather have made slowing progress in the timber difficult. Thanks to the subscriber who shared this view of the fire.

Prayers for the Fremont County Sheriff's Deputy who was shot in the line of duty Friday night.🙏🏻

Colorado: A deputy and suspect were injured following a barricaded incident in Cañon City, according to the Fremont County Sheriff's Office.

It happened Friday evening in the 1400 block of Chestnut Street, which is located southeast of McKinley Elementary School.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to the home for a 911 hang up. When they arrived, they say shots were fired.

After a few hours, the suspect and a deputy were taken to the hospital. Their names and conditions are unknown at this time.

North Carolina:  A deputy fire chief was seriously injured in a head-on crash while responding to suspected arson in Dunn Friday night.

Crews responded to a burning home on South Washington Avenue around 11 p.m. Minutes later, the deputy chief radioed that he had crashed on Highway 301.

Troopers said a pickup truck traveling northbound crossed the center line, slamming into his fire vehicle.

Dunn police later arrested Yusuf Hassan, 56, for arson, but there is no word on any charges for the driver of the pickup.
