WATCH: Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers jump into action, administering two doses of Narcan to an unconscious man after an apparent overdose — likely saving his life.

On August 21 around 1:08 a.m., the troopers were at a gas station at 29th Street and Portland in Oklahoma  City. They noticed a male sitting on a curb slumped over with his head on the concrete. When they checked on him, they observed barely any vital signs and couldn't tell if he was breathing. They administered two separate doses of Narcan, moved the subject into a better position for breathing, and continued life-saving measures until EMS arrived.

The EMT stated that based on the condition of the male that the immediate action of our troopers likely saved the man's life. While transporting, EMS called dispatch and stated that the male was going to survive the drug overdose highlighting that the immediate action on scene was likely the reason the male was going to survive.

Last night, Southern Ohio suffered a heartbreaking loss. Officer Matthew Juniper, originally from Nelsonville and serving with the Wellston Police Department, was tragically killed.

He was more than a badge—he was a protector, a neighbor, and a friend to so many. His service to the community will never be forgotten, and his sacrifice will forever be honored.

We here at Hocking Hills Tourist, along with countless others across Nelsonville, Wellston, and all of Southern Ohio, are mourning alongside his family, friends, and fellow officers. Our prayers are with them in this time of unimaginable pain.
