UPDATE: Two children are dead in the Minneapolis Catholic school shooting, the Mayor confirms

The Minneapolis Police Chief says children at the Annunciation Catholic School were attending a mass at the church this morning during the first week of school, when a gunman began firing a rifle through the church windows toward the children in the pews. The shooter was armed with a rifle, a shotgun, and a pistol. A 10-year-old and 8-year-old were killed. 17 others were injured, including 14 children. 2 of the children are in critical condition. The gunman took his own life after the shooting.

K-9 Dagger was Stabbed in the line of duty.

A Shawnee Police Department K-9 was stabbed in an overnight barricade situation Tuesday morning.

The Shawnee Police Department brought a K9 officer to the scene, and when officers went inside the home to take the man into custody, the dog was stabbed.

K9 Dagger was taken to a local vet and is expected to make a full recovery." Prayers for K9 Dagger's full and complete recovery.

NEW: Beverly Hills Unified School District officials on Tuesday voted yes on a proposal that they hope will fight antisemitism by flying the Israeli flag on all campuses and district facilities. The decision was met with both support and opposition during Tuesday night's district meeting.

The completed version of the motion will recognize May as Jewish Heritage Month, display a flag at each BHUSD school and facility, call for education and awareness around Jewish history and culture and designate Oct. 7, 2023 as an annual day of remembrance.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Force Investigation Division is investigating an Officer-Involved Shooting that occurred in Central Division.

On July 13, 2025, around 9:10​ , Central Patrol Division uniformed officers responded to a radio call of an ADW suspect in the area of South Figueroa Street and West Olympic Boulevard. The comments of the call indicated that a male suspect stopped his vehicle in the middle of the intersection, exited, and was swinging a sword at pedestrians.

Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect, later identified as 36-year-old Gurpreet Singh, standing in the intersection holding a machete. Officers gave multiple commands for Singh to drop the weapon; however, he failed to comply. Singh then returned to his vehicle, retrieved a water bottle, and threw it at the officers. He subsequently entered his vehicle and fled southbound on Figueroa Street while waving the machete outside the driver’s side window.

Officers initiated a brief vehicle pursuit during which Singh drove erratically and collided with an officer’s vehicle. A short time later, Singh stopped near Figueroa Street and 12th Street, exited his vehicle while still armed with the machete, and charged at the officers, resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting.

Singh was struck by gunfire and fell to the pavement. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded and transported Singh to a local hospital for medical treatment.

A machete, two feet in length, was recovered at the scene and booked as evidence.

No officers or community members were injured during the incident.

Authorities say the individual fled the scene on foot and has yet to be apprehended. Officials have not released any details regarding the identity of the at-large suspect.
