Utah: A man is in custody Sunday morning after he allegedly broke into the Park City Gun Club, fired shots, then fled and evaded police until his vehicle crashed.
The man then refused to comply with officers, leading to a SWAT response.
The incident began with an alarm activation about 5:30 a.m. at 4285 N. Forestdale Drive, a Summit County Sheriff news release says.
βWhen deputies arrived, they heard what they believed to be gunshots coming from inside the building. While still outside, deputies and assisting officers from Park City observed multiple shots being fired from inside the building toward the outside.
βA male suspect then exited the business and got into a vehicle. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect fled, leading to a pursuit.β
That pursuit continued to the area of the Trailside Bike Park, where the suspect crashed the vehicle, the statement says.
βThe suspect, who was the only occupant, failed to comply with commands to surrender. This led to a standoff with the SWAT team that lasted approximately one hour and 20 minutes.β
The man, said to be in his 40s and a Utah resident, ultimately surrendered and was taken into custody.
Fortunately, no law enforcement officers were seriously injured during the incident. One deputy from SCSO sustained minor injuries, possibly from a bullet ricochet or flying debris while outside the gun club.
Please join us in sending prayers and, or positive thoughts for his recovery.ππ»

Texas: A Parker County deputy believed to have been shot by a suspect while approaching an illegal deer blind was actually shot by his own gun in a βweapons malfunction,β the sheriffβs department said Thursday.
The deputy was responding to a request from a landowner who noticed someone trespassing on his property Monday evening. Just before 6 p.m., the deputy saw a person setting up a deer blind and was shot.
After initially searching for a suspect in the shooting, the sheriffβs department on Thursday said the gunshot wound came from βa secured backup weapon.β
βThis investigation has led us down several avenues,β Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said in a release. βThis incident was not an accidental discharge. It was a weapons malfunction from a concealed backup weapon which was secured and holstered on his person.β
Fort Worth police assisted in an "extensive" investigation and found the bullet at the scene Thursday morning. The weapon was sent to the Texas Department of Public Safetyβs crime lab for testing.
No condition update was given on the deputy, but his wound was not life-threatening.
