A man was charged with driving under the influence in connection with a chain-reaction crash that left a trooper injured, according to Maryland State Police.

Damien Haman, 42, of Fort Meade, is charged with reckless driving, negligent driving and other traffic-related charges.

Police said Haman was driving a Dodge Charger on Interstate 495 near Route 1 early Thursday, at the same time a trooper was conducting a traffic stop. A second trooper parked behind the first trooper during the traffic stop, according to a news release.

According to a news release, both patrol cars had their emergency lights on.

A preliminary investigation revealed Haman’s car struck the back of the second trooper’s vehicle, which then pinned the trooper in between the two police vehicles, police said.

New York City police officer was reportedly shot in Queens on Friday morning, according to law enforcement sources. The incident was reported around 9 a.m. near 22nd Road and the Whitestone Expressway. The officer sustained gunshot wounds to the arm and leg, though details about their condition have not yet been released.

Barricades were set up outside the Federal Building in Downtown Los Angeles overnight in anticipation of possible immigration protests this weekend.

NEW: Pascagoula, Mississippi - This morning, on August 22, 2025, at approximately 7:32am, Officers were dispatched to Ingalls Shipbuilding in reference to a shooting. 

We can confirm there is one deceased individual. Officers are actively searching for the suspect at this time and do have a person of interest. Identities are not being released at this time. Multiple agencies are on scene. We ask everyone to please stay away from this area while First Responders work to secure the scene and apprehend the suspect.
