UPDATE: Three firefighters were injured while responding to a building explosion in Wilmington, North Carolina.

According to officials, a vehicle turned from New Center Dr. onto Bob King Dr. The vehicle hit gas lines and drove off. It caused an explosion at East Carolina Veterinary Medical Center.

Police say that the vehicle and driver were located and the driver had signs of impairment. The driver is now in custody.

After the explosion, three firefighters from the Wilmington Fire Department were injured while fighting the resulting blaze. Two had non-life threating injuries and one firefighter had severe burn injuries on their hands and arms.

NEW: A 49-year-old Yuba City, California man has been sentenced to 10 years and eight months in prison after leading police on a chase and ramming a patrol vehicle.

In December 2022, David Mattu was seen driving over the Yuba City Police Department's lawn and doing a donut on Poole Boulevard, police said.

A police officer tried to pull Mattu over for reckless driving, but he led police on a chase through the city.

“Colleagues believed he’d been grooming and recruiting for years but knew he was protected by the administration,” our source told us.
