Watch: This video shows the evolution of the debris flow arrived/flashflood today down Cedar Creek north of Ruidoso, New Mexico, from the storm to peak flow.

This was from around 2 inches of rainfall on the burn scar, and is very small compared to the destructive floods from last month. I was monitoring the rainfall rates very closely, had escape routes planned and practiced, and used my training from David Rankin to cover this event safely. The threat of flash flooding continues tomorrow across this area of southern Utah with deep moisture in place.

The storms fired closer to the mountains today, sending outflow that collided with the mountains, initiating this rain bomb over the burn scar. Thankfully it persisted only 1-2 hours, or another damaging flash flood would have impacted the beautful town of Ruidoso. They are still recovering from 5-6 flash flooding events from this burn scar this year.

North Carolina: A Burlington police officer and two others were injured Saturday afternoon when a patrol vehicle collided with another car and then struck a building while responding to a shooting call, according to the police department. 

The crash happened around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of South Mebane Street and Maple Avenue. Investigators said the officer was driving a marked patrol car to a reported shooting in the 1300 block of Hilldale Drive when the car collided with another vehicle. The impact pushed the cruiser into a building at 427 Maple Avenue.

The officer and the two people in the other vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency crews transported them to local hospitals.

Illinois: A sheriff’s deputy was injured in a crash on IL Highway 127 in Union County Saturday night.

According to the Anna Police Department, a Union County Sheriff’s deputy, while responding to a call, was involved in a collision on August 16.

Union County Sheriff David Wilkins said the deputy was on the way to a domestic battery report at around 8 p.m.

While traveling on Hwy. 127 N., just south of State Forest Road in Jonesboro, the patrol vehicle hit a deer and went off road, before coming to rest in a ravine.

Sheriff Wilkins said the deputy was able to exit the vehicle and climb the embankment, where he was assisted by responding emergency personnel.

The deputy was then transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. He is in stable condition and is recovering.

AWESOME MOMENT FOR Fort Worth Police Department, Texas, Sergeant Dana Stevenson and his son, Officer Koby Stevenson, had the rare opportunity to work side by side, answering calls for service together.

Massachusetts: A state trooper was hospitalized following a confrontation with a domestic assault and battery suspect in Danvers on Sunday, officials said.

A trooper on patrol on Mill Street in Danvers spotted a black GMC that was the subject of a Be on the Lookout alert issued by Salem police.

When the suspect, whose name has not been released, “became confrontational and assaultive,” police say the trooper used OC spray to take them into custody.

After the incident, first responders transported the suspect and the trooper to Beverly Hospital for evaluation.

UPDATE: Two officers are confirmed dead in Tremonton this morning after a shooting on Sunday night. A third officer and his K9 were injured and evacuated to a nearby hospital from the scene.

Tremonton Garland Police officers responded to a "disturbance" in the area of 700 North and 200 East, near North Park Elementary School, around 9:30 p.m. According to police, the disturbance was an apparent domestic disturbance where someone had called 911 multiple times before hanging up.

When an officer with the Tremonton Garland Police Department was speaking with an occupant of the home, officials say a man emerged from the home with a gun and shot at one officer, striking and killing him.
