A Nevada State Police trooper was injured in a hit-and-run on the I-15 late Tuesday night.

The crash occurred near Russell Road just after 11:40 p.m. The investigation shut down the freeway for hours.

Police say the driver ignored traffic control that was in place for an earlier crash that troopers were investigating near a construction zone.

The driver hit a patrol vehicle and fled the scene, according to the state police news release.

Nevada State Police said the trooper was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Third District Volunteer Fire Company sadly announced the line-of-duty death of long-time firefighter Ed Margavich who died after he got hurt while responding to a fire last week.

Margavich, served the fire company for 65 years, officials said.
